Shibu Onsen has nine outdoor bathhouses (public baths). Each one has a different water source and medical effects. Find the water that feels the best against your skin, and enjoy.

Each bathhouses has a stamp that you can press onto your prayer towel as you visit them.
When you have visited all of the bathhouses, make one last stop at Shibutaka Yakushi, the temple overlooking the hot spring town. Once you go there and press the stamp onto your prayer towel, it will fulfill your wish to the gods.
It is said to bring benefits, such as protection from evil, safe delivery and rearing of children, and perpetual youth and longevity.
This temple is famous for being opened by a donation from the influential feudal lord Takeda Shingen. It is also a mystical "power spot" that is popular with locals.
Each of the four baths has a different temperature, and there is also a reflexology path around the baths. A soak in them will boost your blood circulation and leave you feeling refreshed.
"Nofutomaru" means "to warm" in the local dialect. After a long walk, you can rest your legs in the bath and wash your tiredness away.
Here, you can see up to three hundred tamed snow monkeys up close in their natural habitat. Famous for bathing in hot springs, these monkeys are loved by people all around the world.

The main hall has a unique structure called "Shumoku Zukuri," and has been designated as a National Treasure. The temple houses the oldest Buddha statue in Japan, "Ikko Sanzon Amida Nyorai." It is a landmark of Shinshu visited by many worshippers every year.
This town prospered as the economic center of Kita-Shinano and is home to many literary figures such as Hokusai and Issa. It is filled with museums like the Hokusai Museum and historical scenery like traditional houses made of mud and plaster, letting you feel the history and culture of the town.
